Where would I place the Google Analytics cold for it to get results?

you can create html block with the code or insert it directly in the template (footer.tpl)

Ok When I insert it into the footer.tpl, It doesn't work, I place it right before the /body.

I have a supposition about it. May be the code contains special characters that used by Smarty. Try following:
