Upgrade to new version from xooarticles 1.2

Is it possible to upgrade to the latest version from xooarticles 1.2? My script is highly modified, mostly by Sergey. I really want the new features like the plugins, but I cannot lose my mods.

Hi Brad,
as a result of upgrade you will lose all custom modification. I have checked your site and find no features that Subrion does not has.

Custom Features I have:

Ability to lock articles, allowing editing only by admin.
All email generated by script is BCC to admin; confirmation email, welcome email, etc. This way I can help with account creation if needed - like re-sending the confirmation link.
Notification of comments to articles or listings is sent to author and admin. Comments notification to author can be turned off in member area by the author.
Location: City and State of article submitter is included with article in public view.

Can I still have this?

Also, is there a demo of the backend? I would really like to see it.
