How to make a backup

I would like to know how to properly make a backup of my site as as I have it highly modified. Is the cpanel "Home Directory" backup good enough for the main site files?

Also, the correct way to backup the MySQL database for a fresh install would be good to know too.

Home Directory Backup from cPanel quite enough for files backup
For database backup you can use script admin panel->Manage Database->Export either or cPanel->phpMyAdmin

Full cPanel backup is the best way IMHO.

Vasily B., I suppose, the best way is to create backup via shell script, but you need shell access to the server in this case.

Well, Sergey.. There are not so many companies that provide shell access to the server. Besides, most of them deny to run shell scripts if you use shared hosting. All hosting companies have their tools to manage server (cPanel, Plesk, etc.) and 95% of them have their own tools to make full backups
