We have many questions like 'what are subitems?' , 'How do I use subitems?', etc..
In this post I will try to explain their meaning and
seo sense in our script. I will also try to give some brief examples of how they can be used in our script.
Subitems is something like profiles for one account. Usually we mean persons when we say profiles. In our script subitems can be used for different purposes. One account can have several profiles(subitems) of anything. There can be a specific set of fields of subitems. This functionality will be improved in our next version. Below you can read examples of possible subitems:
#1. Dog Articles Sites
It's a site for dog owners where they will share their stories about their dogs. In this example one registered account can have several dogs and create a profile for each of these dogs. This profile would be a subitem. Why do you create them? I will explain this below after other examples. When account posts a story they can assign dog profile (subitem) to the posted story so your readers, visitors whoever else could see that dog profile the author had written about. Dog profile (subitem) can have the following specific set of fields:
breed, skin color, age, description, etc
#2. Car Articles Sites
Oriented for car owners who would like to share stories about their cars. Some specific fields for car profile (subitem):
make, model, transmission, color, etc.
So when authors post a story about their cars, they can assign a car profile (subitem) to their story. When visitors come and read that posted story they might be interested in car itself (not just the story). So they click on assigned subitems link (Assigned Cars for our example) and read that car details.
#3. Product reviews site (let it be software for example)
You decided to create a site for software manufacturers where they can write reviews and articles (tutorials, tips, etc.) about their products. For say I own Intelliants company. It has several products. So I come to your site of products reviews and add my products under subitems section. Of course there will be a specific set of fields for the subitems on this site. It would be something like OS, Price, Size, Version, etc. So I fill in the all details for my all products, let it be eSyndiCat or xooArticles,
eSyndiCat - Unix, 49, 2Mb, 2.1
xooArticles - Unix, 160, 2Mb, 1.0
These are different subitems and start posting a review for esyndicat. In this kind of site I do not need always to post detailed information about the product I have. I just assigned a profile of my software product(subitem) and post story(review, etc).
If you need I can make more examples of our subitems usage.
So what kind of use do we get from subitems? It's
SEO sense. Just imagine how many links you will get on your site. We all know the more pages a site has the better positions it has over competitors in Google SERPs. Of course it would be more or less relevant pages. You get at least several pages more from just one added subitem. It's subitems browse page, profile subitems, subitem details, etc. Your site will have much more pages and it will be better indexed by search engines. As a fact it will have more visitors so you get more traffic. If you get more traffic you get more impressions, etc. If you site is an ads oriented I think you have understood it means more revenue
Well, I think I gave quite full explanation of what subitems are. Please let me know if you have more questions or hesitations. I will advise if you need to use them for your site or use the script just as articles directory.
